Tuesday 11th March – Goals! Goals! Goals!

Last Night saw 4 players get together for the second round of league matches.

The first set of games saw Paul & John paired up & Alex versus Mark respectively.
Paul scored his home advantage penalty and held the lead to beat John 1-0 in tense affair, both players not really relaxing into their natural game, with Paul happy to protect his lead.

Alex drew 0-0 with Mark, with the home advantage penalty saved..a real stalemate with both players trying hard to score the winner, in the end though there was no score but both players earning their first points of the new campaign.

The next round Turpin Snr V Turpin Jr, with again John missing the home advantage penalty shot, Alex came out on top and blasted into a 2-1 lead by half time, unfortunately he couldn’t close out the match and John showed his experience by getting the equaliser, this was another well deserved point for Alex but John will feel like he dropped two points in the chase for the title.

Mark played Paul in the next game with the home penalty scored, this seemed to make Paul’s mind up to attack without fear and within 5 minutes Paul was 3-1 up, but to Marks credit he kept plugging away and scored a great goal to make the half time score 3-2, the next goal was crucial and Paul got it to make it 4-2 but mark hit back again to make it 4-3 with 7 minutes left, however Paul scored soon after to finish the match off winning 5-3. Good attacking play from both players but the defending was non existent, what would Hansen have said.

In the last round John played Mark with again the penalty being saved, Mark carried on where he left off in the last game and took a 1-0 lead into the break with John looking shell shocked…however the Veteran pulled himself together and scored 3 goals to lead 3-1, however mark wasn’t finished there and came back to 3-2 with time left, however not quite able to force in an equaliser, so John ran out a 3-2 winner in this game.

The last game was Alex V Paul, with Alex having his penalty saved, seemed to set the tone for the match, Andreas started off very fast and raced into a 4-0 lead, with both players looking bemused at what had happened in the 1st half, the second half was more of the same with both players scoring 3 goals each to leave the final score 7-3, 10 goals!! great shooting from both players, If Alex continues like he did in the second half then he will be the surprise package of the season.

Milton Keynes IO 2008 Update

There are now 12 nations being represented in the tournament this year so far. This is great news but we only have 36 entrants in the open, 11 in the veterans, 1 in the U19’s, 5 in the U15’s and 11 teams.

This is a worthwhile event, if you are thinking about entering and haven’t done it yet, or you have already entered but know people who would, then get those entries in as quick as possible. For individuals click on the link to the right as well as entering a team. You can check the current list of entries on the events page which can be found at the top.

Tuesday 26th February – First Meeting of New League

Tuesday saw the beginning of the summer league. With only three members able to make the meet, none the less three highly competitive games were played. Using the new format of each player playing each other four times in a season as well as the home player able to capitalise on a home advantage via a free centre shot before each match. A close season looks to be on the cards. As well as this full FISTF rules with referee’s was implemented for the first time along with full 30 minutes match time.

 Paul v Mark

First out the bag was Paul at home to Mark, and although the home advantage shot was missed, and Mark’s defence blocked solidly, especially the first half, Paul ran out a comfortable winner with some fast, slick play.

For the next game Mark stayed on as the home player, but once again the home advantage shot was missed. John playing his first game played solidly during both half’s to win 2-0, where as Mark was unlucky not to convert any chances to draw a blank on the evening.

The final match pitched Paul, winner of the winter league, and John, runner-up of the winter league, together and although the home advantage shot was taken, as 1-0 lead needed to be protected. The first half saw few chances with Johns long periods of possession Bering little fruit and Paul taking advantage by smashing the ball home shortly before half-time. The second half saw John take a well deserved lead midway through the half and a combination of solid defence and patient possession saw John home 2-1, and take the early lead in the League.
